I'm going with the 300 lbs springs. They're supposed to be delivered this week and hopefully I will be able to install them before the next autocross on the 14th...

Ok, I finally started the process. What I noticed immediately is that the length of the new hyper coil springs are less than the original springs by about 3.5 inches. Also, the new perches are not as tall too.

I told the guys at Racers Edge that I want as close to stock as possible and he recommended the 10” 300 lbs springs.

Because the new springs and perches are shorter mean that I need to adjust the perch height to make up the difference or do I just install them at the same perch height as the originals?

More than likely you'll need to adjust the spring perches up some to get it to sit at stock height. Install them and see where the car sits, adjust from there. The beauty of coilovers

Here's another image of my 10", 300 lb/in springs fitted to the double adjustable versions of your '89 M030 struts. I'm running Racer's Edge camber plates which have the same mounting point height as stock, so the location of the spring perch and jam nut should give you a good starting point. I also have the little tender spring which adds another 1/4" or so to the spring length when compressed.

According to the guys at Racer’s Edge, I’ll need to have it aligned and corner balanced too.

I got the alignment and corner balancing done, and wow, what a difference. Flat cornering, smoother ride, and confidence inspiring.

My car already was aligned and corner balanced prior to swapping out the old springs with these new ones, so it truly is an apples to apples comparison.

Where did you end up getting it aligned?

I went back to where I first took my car back
In 2008 in Walnut Creek, Pacific Power Motorsports. It was half the price of what I was quoted from this shop in the Peninsula and I trust them.

Definitely worth the cost of an hour and a half drive.
