The conversation took place when I still thought the sensor slid in just underneath the fins. The guy basically said that part number was the only one for 85+ 944's and 968's, and "a lot of icing switches sit under the evap, so this one is probably the same way" (paraphrasing here). When I found out from you that there should definitely have been a hole there, it then became clear that he really didn't have a clue and just agreed with what I was saying to make me go away.
If I didn't find it easier to just deal with what I have instead of having more potentially useless conversations with support desk reps, it might be worth a call to 4 seasons...

I'm already multiplying complexity on what was supposed to be a "get the AC working before summer" project... LOL... You know how ridiculous "While We're In There" can get. I'm the poster child for that syndrome, I'm pretty sure.

It really all works for me because the arduino solution ties in with something else that I'm working on which is related to cutting out the ac compressor, the dreaded return to idle stall with the ac on.

Haha yes, I'm also planning to have the dash recovered and change the airbag controller while doing the evaporator!

So far, I haven't found a leak. Still pulling vacuum, gonna add dye this afternoon and begin the sniffin'...

So, of course, I already ordered :
Denso compressor
Cooler Classic parallel row condenser
Griffith barrier hose (compressor to condenser)
Griffith barrier hose (condenser to drier)
Rubber gasket "air guide seal" strips to mount condenser
New grommets and "nipple shaped things" (condenser upper insulators...LOL)
Drier
Enough green O-rings to choke a camel
Griffith expansion valve
The black plastic thin-and-brittle-like-a-tortilla cover for the blower motor area
Power steering reservoir and hoses (lest their grime detract from my shiny new stuff)
And the official Porsche "R134a Upgrade" decal, just to be a fancypants about the whole thing!

Nope. I don't have a problem at all.

Good job. Pull it below 500 microns if you can.
