They should be ready in the coming week. With @PogueMoHone being the alpha tester, you can be the beta tester -- and then we'll go Prime Time!

[Edit, adding pictures for @PogueMoHone. The second picture shows the rubber bumpers that prevent the bottom of the bracket from hitting the body. The bracket is held to the bumper with the 2 factory screws, and then the bracket has threaded holes for all 4 corners of the plate. --Tom]

Thanks for helping a Luddite out with posts; in addition to your "elegant engineering" solution.

The resulting product is literally the "bees knees".

So advanced, it is simple, and anticipates many potential problems. The fine detail re the bumper stops account for the unintended consequences of unwanted/unanticipated vibrations.

You can never pay enough for the efforts of those who are engaged and interested. Problems avoided are many times not understood and/or appreciated.

Fantastic elegant and simple solution.

Great work Tom!

Kudos

With special thanks to PogueMoHone, we confirmed the final prototype fits like a glove today, so I will be ordering them in bulk now and will report back as soon as they are ready to go!

Way way late to the party, since I haven't been paying close attention to this thread. Plus K decided the Cayenne TT she sat in is "too busy" inside compared with her G5 4Runner. Duh... Regardless of my home issues, a couple things that came up in my 928 screw-less front plate mount project might apply to this one.

Q: Are you depending on the bottom plate fasteners to be stabilizing stand-offs? Would make sense with large inertial moment suspended at just the mounting screws at the top top. If that's the case, place some protection on the paint so those (looks like) acorn nuts on the back never rub on the paint. Tom, I used a gasket punch to deliver perfect circles from some of that foam weatherstrip/gasket I shared for the heater box dampers. In a pinch (sorry...) you can use felt feet from the hardware store, color-adjusted from green to black with a magic-marker and some patience.

Else -- Threaded inserts in the mount to receive the screws for the plate, so nothing protrudes through the inner face of the mount. I made mine from aluminum, with Nutserts to receive the plate screws.

Mine doesn't yet say Carpokes on it. I'll need to work something out for that. I generally try to keep the car as plain-looking as possible, so it would be harder for someone to later pick it out of a line-up later at headquarters...

Thank dr bob. No acorn nuts here. :o  :o Those are rubber nubs that keep the bracket from hitting the bumper. They serve the dual purpose of protecting the body as you say, and stabilizing the bracket so it doesn't bounce around while driving and stress the two mounting wells. I'm having them done via injection molding, with standard heat-set threads used with that process. I'll will lose the CARPOKES logo with the injection molding, but will likely do little stickers for them. :) I'm having a distressing number of them made, so one is yours for the asking once I have them in-hand (which will likely be another 8-10 weeks).
