I can’t find the reference but I remember reading that the 718’s interior geometry did not allow for a visor extension. Is there an extension in other Porsche models?
None in Cayenne's, 911's.
I don't see how geometry would have any bearing on the ability to slide the visor back a few inches on a rod when it's placed against the side windows. There's plenty of room.
While there may be valid reasons, I have a feeling that Porsche is just lazy in respect to utilizing proper visors.

No problem Larry , you are likely correct , there was likely some note written stating that it was not possible due to space constraints and then the issue could be tabled as something not to consider fixing. So thanks for bringing up the rationale to try and explain away an issue. Overall things like this are the tiny items on the surface that keep some things from being beyond spectacular and note, none of us skipped buying a Porsche because of it ---- it is just surprising on such a high end machine for driving , sun glare is not addressed with more attention.

There is plenty of room to extend the visor. The rod simply exists inside of the regular visor rod. I'll post the GMC pics vs the GT4 later today because I think what I'm trying to explain is not translating well here.
From your OP Bill:
"My son sells Porsches and he says this is one of the biggest complaints with Porsche buyers and though they are fairly sufficient if the sun is directly ahead as soon as it is at an angle or coming through the windows from the side , it is beyond annoying."
It's the intense side glare when the sun is near the horizon and at right angles to the direction one is traveling that is the major issue. It is one easily solved but one Porsche has chosen to ignore.

REV ( redesign every visor ) it up Porsche!
Solid post Tim, and I imagine we will all admit that the superb engineering ( chassis , motor ,etc. ) and exterior design is what drew us to the Porsche, but it seems there are a few little items that confound us why they were not addressed.
The handling, the performance and the sheer fun at the track is why I ordered a Cayman, and the ability of the Macan S to handle more like a sports car than an SUV is what drew my wife and I to that little beast , so obviously we are living with the visor issue --- though my wife complains every sunny day.

As I’ve become older, I’ve found that I’d rather be happy than right. FWIW, debating the reason for the crappy Porsche sunvisor is an excercise in futility.

Oh, Larry , I do agree, I am pretty dang happy and this is a little issue. I spent too much time in the Industry and this small fail is kind of surprising. I won't lose any sleep over it because there are so many things I love about the Porsches. Gotta keep those Designers on their toes for our future Porsche Purchases,ha!
