The bracket I bought on ETSY for less than $25

It simply clamps around the stem on the back of the mirror

Here's a link

This model has the connector for the uniden detector, there are others for the Valentine and Passport also

There are others out there that cost $125 and more but are not any better - the ETSY unit just needed a little clean up on the threads but works fine. The adjustment is easy and offers a lot of range.

For me the detector doesn't impede my view but if I wanted I could get it a littel closer to the mirror and the windshield.

The mirror tap install for power is well documented on the "R' site and is straightforward to get power to the detector.
Other options are getting switched power from the fuse box or the 12 volt outlet which turns off after 30 minutes.

I wound up staying with Mike Valentine over the years and have many V1's. I recently purchased and installed the lasted V1. I think it works very well although there appears to be some limitations when compared to the competitors.

There is a site www.vortexradar.com that does a great job comparing radar detectors and other products like jammers and dash cams. He does many very helpful videos as well.

As far as install I went the simple route. I used Valentines product called Savvy which plugs under the dash in the OBD-II port. I ran the wire along the A pillar on drivers side and then simply plug into the OBD port. 5 minutes and works perfectly.

Hey Ted
I'm new as of an hour ago to this site and saw your post. Like you I've been a long time user of counter measures. Starting with a Fuzz Buster in the early 60's. Yeh I'm an old fart.
Valentine warns that there is a small batt draw with the Savvy. Have you noticed any diff? I have a few P cars and some sit for weeks between drives. Do you think this would be a problem? Also how long is the wire from OBD to the detector? Will it reach to right side of the dash?
Thank you
PS to you all. I've owned and still own a few V1 and V2 Valentines. These are the very best in my opinion.
There have been zero issues using Savvy. I have used it on a couple cars now and all good. The wire is pretty long so it should reach to right side, although the Savvy would not plug in on the right, only the left where the port resides

I used to be Valentine for the longest but I just switched to escort maxcam 360 with the built in dash cam and it’s nice. Bulky but nice. I will get it hard wired with a mirror tap in a week or so. Just got the car.

I'm getting laser jammers installed on mine when it gets here. The display will be through the rear view mirror, kind of cool.

After using most name brands I strongly recommend Valentine One Gen 2. Worked very well and a Godsend during the C0VID lock-down when the nearby country roads were near vacant and exhilarating to drive. I typically drive over a 1K a month on both state (2 lane / 4 lane) and interstate highways. Some observations:
-ID's all radar bands beyond natural obstacles (hills and bends)
-ID's lazers targeted on cars ahead
-360 coverage
-Expensive but has replaced its value several times
-Compliments Waze
-Optional: Uses BlueTooth connectivity to iPhone. There are several apps of choice. The Valentine App provide GPS capability which is ideal to ID known alert sites - ideal for those who commute the way. I was not successful in seamlessly running Valentine app and Waze on Car Play. I am still learning.
-Strongly recommend hard wire. Cleaner look, but more importantly if you use the cigarette lighter (Porsche) and leave it plugged in it will drain the battery.

I've not tried the app, guess I need to check it out. I use Waze some but never tried to incorporate my V-1 with it.

Something like those onboard cameras that mount up by the rear view mirror? I've seen mirror mounts, but don't like the way the detector hangs down and looks like an afterthought....
Tom, I am a 30-year Mike Valentine customer and have had all of my vehicles hardwired with the cord exiting at the top near the rear view mirror. Perfect spot to mount and it's unobtrusive.

In addition, I have always used the concealed displays with all vehicles which I mount low and out of the way. I don't want others seeing the alerts. I very much like how the concealed display mutes all LEDs on the main unit.

I concur 100%. And yes, the Gen-2s are fantastic in my opinion. V1s were great before but the Gen-2s are even better.

As others have mentioned, I also started w/Escort many years ago (1980 or thereabouts) and later went with Mike Valentine sometime around 1992. I've been with him ever since - happy as hell. His devices are like 2nd nature to me after all these years. The device sound alerts alone tell me most of what I need to know, at least on any initial contact.

I have four Gen-2 V1s and all of our vehicles are hardwired with the cord exiting at the top of the windshield trim at the rear view mirror. (One of the first things I do when I get a new or different vehicle is to get it hardwired and set up for the V1.)

As I mentioned in the another post here, I also have always used the concealed displays which are fantastic. They are an excellent option to consider.
