PS - the date code on the tabbed version pic you attached appears to be from 2010, so it stands to reason that they changed part design several years ago.

Why any of the old parts would show up on new cars, as I think you mentioned, is very odd. Maybe double check that that is in fact the case?

Where do you see 2010? I think the Polish mfg has its own number that starts with 013010, and the rest (which appears on the other stickers) just got cut off in that one picture? Or am I missing it?

For what it's worth, the online Porsche Pet appears to show the 01 part number for all 2017+ 718 models. Also, if you search 981 in the 718 PET there are a surprising number of carry-over 981 parts (and a surprising number of 991 parts for that matter).

You're correct. Upon further reflection, that's probably the case for another reason too as the year 2010 is way too old for a part, assuming Eddie's first pic was from one of his 2016 GT4's. As you pointed out, the "013010" start to the number is the same as on the newer luggage covers with the threaded screws, just located on a diff place on the label.

The mfr date codes in the #01-5S part pics follow the part # (after the vertical line) so I assumed that was the case for the "00" part as it's in the same place minus the periods in-between day, month, year. I should have looked closer.

Anyway, if the labels with the periods are actual mfr dates, then they coincide pretty well, at least for my car and when it was assembled.

It's odd that Porsche would have different parts for a component that's seemingly so simple and that they would be applied inconsistently.

After talking to Ed on the phone, I think the mystery is solved. Seems like Porsche switched to the threaded screw (the 01 part) in 2017, per PET and all evidence. Ed believed he early GT4RS cars could use the 00 part from his 2016 GT4, based on a conversation with another GT4RS owner, but on reflection that was probably just a miscommunication. From 2017 onward, it looks like all 718 cars use the 01 part.
