Definitely not an optimized turbo setup by today's standards, but it's readily available and an easy drop in that will yield decent spool and has the capacity to support modest power goals in the 300 - 340whp range.
I have the "prototype" of the same, Charlie from Evergreen did what he could to open up the throat of the turbine housing, I have pics somewhere. #8 hot side would be better for track use, but I love the spool of this K27/6 hybrid

I needed the ability to bolt on the stock catalytic converter for CA smog purposes, and also wanted to retain the stock water cooling/after-run electric water pump setup for longevity. An extra stock 951 oil cooler plumbed in series with the original keeps water and oil temps in check, even during track sessions on a 90+ degree day.

The "Voodoo" thing looked promising on paper, but way too much drama and ego involved in that scene . . . .

I have an Evergreen K27/8 with the Raptor X upgrade and it starts spooling around 2600 and reaches full boost by ~3600. I am very happy with this Turbo!

Going with the Evergreen Raptor #6. Thanks all for the recommendations. Will update with impressions once it's all buttoned up.

I have the same one as Fejjj951 and, when all of my vacuum leaks were found and not leaking, I had the same experience; much quicker spool than stock.

TurboD,
I know you asked about turbo options but saw you are still running a 2.5 inch exhaust. Is an upgrade to 3” in your plans? I think you would see a gain by the increase size.

Charlie was incredibly easy to work with. I'd recommend him to anyone.

I finally got the turbo and electronic boost controller on the car. What a difference! I was pinning the dash boost gauge before at 2 bar and it didn't feel like this before. It feels very fast at the 11-12psi I have it set to right now.

If anyone is in the market for an electronic 3 port solenoid boost controller, the Innovate SCG-1 has been great so far. We put the wideband into the factory narrowband bung, and were able to give the factory dme the narrowband voltage via some programming on the SCG-1. It was incredibly easy to dial in, and the AFR safety cuts are a big comfort.

Planning on turning the boost up some more over the weekend, but the powerband is very fun at the mild 11-12psi.

Not familiar with that controller but does it have provisions for back pressure compensation??? If not, I don’t think you’ll be able to rely on your AFR values with the sensor mounted in that factory narrow band location in the crossover…

On my 90 built 944 turbo, the factory narrow band sensor is mounted in the down pipe. It's not recommended to place a wide band sensor in that location, due to the heat. What is located in my crossover is an EGT port.

Interesting. Have an appointment to have them relocate the sensor now. I've noticed that the car runs pretty lean at idle and at low loads. In the 16s at idle most times. Could this be related to the sensor placement?

Car runs in the mid-high 11s at WOT, so I'm not terribly worried that its too lean when it matters most... unless of course the sensor cant be trusted at all because of its placement.
