Mechanical problems have been negligible - I replaced the clutch this year and of course run through consumables like tires. The 7.1 also has no front lift so I am on my fourth splitter.
Other than that it is tough as nails and I intend to keep it permanently. There are much faster cars now, but this is an old-style analogue car and a lot of fun to drive.

Looking forward to hearing it as well as others I'm sure you have tucked away. Let the adventures keep coming!RDMcG wrote: Mon Sep 04, 2023 5:40 am However............the 997.2 had been announced. But that's another story.
Thanks for posting and sharing them along with the one-of-kind, excellent pictures you've gathered over time. Pretty special to know Stuck and to have met/known Schmitz, Elford, Haywood and others I imagine.
A link to a Carpokes post I added this past Spring with the massively iconic pic of Elford and Rodriguez sideways together coming out of Druids Corner in the rain at 1970's BOAC 1000km at Brands Hatch. There are a couple of older videos attached that reflect the times. Just watching all that's in those videos is a fantastic look back at how things were 53-years ago. It was raw and it was real - so different from today.
The 2nd video has ancient film footage of Elford and Rodriguez battling for the lead - all in pouring rain.

Vic was a great guy..spoke to him quite a few times. I decided one time to drive the old Targa Florio route around Sicily a few years ago and talked to him about it. ( I did not have a Porsche 904 to do it in........oit was a Fiat 500:)).

Fiat or Porsche, no matter (well, a little bit...
), but another great adventure nevertheless! Can't imagine what it must have felt like driving amongst the history that permeates everything there.
