I hear ya. In a previous life I learned how to do this type of thing, but now days - my schedule doesn't really permit it nor do I have the literature or training to take on this type of an endeavor.

In my instance, a number of parts needed to be replaced which was about 2/3 of the total bill. I'll sleep well knowing that the transmission was inspected and overhauled by a competent person using the correct parts and restoring the critical items/dimensions back to factory specs.
