I swapped in the other KLR and the issue persisted so I put my original KLR back in the car.

I decided to go to the lake house for the night which is about 60 miles from our home. AFR was 13ish cruising and high 10’s under full boost. I did a hard boost run in 4th gear and around 100mph, the car started fluttering so I backed off. It felt the same way as a few years ago when my vac line that splits to the MBC and WG came off. Maybe that is my issue. I have no way to get under the car to check it so will have to wait until I return home. After the flutter it appears as though the car went into limp mode as the AFR was 11 cruising and mid 10’s with the slightest bit of pedal.

After I arrived at the lake, the car sat for an hour or so and I took 1 of my neighbors for a short ride and the car pulled hard. We turned around to go back and the car was in “limp mode” again with super rich AFR’s.

You need a fuel pressure gauge to prove it, but this sounds 100% like the FPR failures I described in my previous posts. It's not a "designed" limp-home mode per se, just the engine bogs down with such rich AFRs, or even stalls if the injector pintles cannot lift off their seats against fuel rail pressure.

Thank you.

Definitely going to test the FPR this week and swap in my adjustable FPR at the same time.

We tested the FPR and the pressure was 41 PSI. After shutting the engine off and and letting it sit for 20 minutes, the pressure dropped to around 30. We went ahead and swapped in an Adjustable FPR and set the pressure to 43.5.

When my mechanic initially took the nut off of the fuel rail to hook up the gauge, no fuel came out. This is what is causing the cold start issues.

Also, on cold starts, he said it sounds like 1 cylinder is hydro locking? I think that is what he said. He suspects that I have a bad/leaky/clogged injector. Next step is to pull the injectors and send them off to get them tested/cleaned/rebuilt.
