Great to know , sounds like the kind or group I would love to run with someday. I learn something everyday, of course at my age I forget a lot also, so not sure if it is new or just a reintroduction, ha. I will be looking for some of Murry's events in 2024, and I do appreciate the info!

Back to Bill's original post and question on this thread (and to give it a bump) - I think it would be great for PCA (and other track day organizers) to introduce some kind of Time Trial segments. It would be fun and a natural progression for many participants - I'd definitely be all for it!

I know the reasoning I have heard from PCA DE Instructors is that the Club can't have the exposure, which I have repeated to friends that this is not a rational or logical answer when they already do PCA Club Racing. Sure it may mean a slightly higher fee for those wanting to do Time Trials , but I think most folks would be willing to pay as they are already doing that with...........SCCA, NASA, Grid Life and others.

I instruct for PCA, Speed Ventures and POC (Porsche owners club). PCA is very restrictive and Speed Ventures leans to the other end. POC seems to have hit the nail on the head and lands right in between. They are primarily wheel to wheel club racing but also offer DE, point by time trials and open passing time trials at almost every event. You do need a competition license for open passing time trials but not for point by or DE. This does tend to alleviate a slower car being surprised by a faster car even though we run GT2, GT3 and Gt4 cars all together. I believe POC is So CA only but PCA may want to look at adopting some of their procedures.
