mystery coolant leak
I have the 86 model year NA also called 85.5. It had the old style 3 piece OPRV in it. I've done the O rings on my cooler twice in 100K. I'll try to post a pix of the alignment tool for you when I get home.
I would have updated my OPRV to the new style one piece if it wasn't for the high cost. If installed correctly, the old one works just fine. I forget where I got the tool. Pelican? Maybe? 944online?

Mine is 86 model year NA 85.5-2 I have replaced the O rings twice in 100k miles. My car came with the old 3 piece OPRV.
I would have upgraded to the newer one piece valve if it wasn't for the cost of the darn thing. If installed correctly, the old style works just fine. Can't remember where I bought the tool. I'll try to post a pix of it when I get home.
BTW RED944M5---Thank you for your service

Replace the O rings and gasket, put the housing back on but leave the bolts loose. Insert alignment tool all the way to position the housing then tighten everything up. Remove tool and install the OPRV parts.
i sheared the left bottom bolt clean off, when removing the cooler housing, anybody know the part number or size or where to order one or a set of the 4 bolts … nobody seems to sell just the bolt so i was gonna goto lowes and fish thru the bolts and compare to the bolts i have
