Of course, the performance is exactly what you'd expect from a 911 with a Turbo badge. The 500-horsepower twin-turbo flat six engine sends power to all four wheels, allowing for a 0-60 time of around 3.0 seconds, and a drag-limited top speed of 193 mph. This car is claimed to be one of just 88 examples built with a manual transmission for the 2012 model year, which was also the last year you could get a Turbo with a manual, period
Oddball Questions
It looks like you got your answer already but I have a 2012 Turbo S and know that they only offered manual with the Turbo and not on the Turbo S. Wish I had the manual Turbo but do love the Turbo S also.

Funny.
I have a 2011 Turbo S with pdk. Thought I was missing something so I also got a 996 turbo X50 6 speed. Prefer the pdk. I’m fortunate enough to have other manual transmission Porsches, but with the power of the turbo S, the pdk works better for me. Going to sell the 996 eventually.

Awesome. Thank you. That's the growing Power of Carpokes!! @ASMR_IRL -- we're still climbing up the ranks of Porsche forums, but we genuinely do try harder. Tell your friends.

Welcome to Carpokes and thanks for the pics of your Turbo S!smizrahi wrote: Tue Apr 04, 2023 5:07 pm It looks like you got your answer already but I have a 2012 Turbo S and know that they only offered manual with the Turbo and not on the Turbo S. Manuals are great fun and I definitely love 'em - I've had a ton over the (many) years, but PDK is simply awesome. What it can do is an eye-opener, at least it was to me! It's amazing to me what a journey AT's have made.
Anyway, glad you found the forum!

First off, great car! We're like Twinkies except you got the big brother version. Second this is starting to make more sense to me. When I was buying mine, I was told by the dealer that Porsche stopped putting manuals in the Turbos in 2012 because people were burning out the clutches because of the horsepower/torque.
And based on your knowledge that they only offered the manual on the Turbo and not Turbo S, that extra horsepower/torque kind of reinforces that. Hence easier to burn out the clutch.
Although we have the total number of Turbo/Turbo S made in 2012 (thanks audi4t!), still don't have the number of manual Turbos made in 2012. I've never seen one besides mine and I've seen quite a few PDK 2012 Turbo/S either in person or up for sale/auction.
PS. Not here to start a flame war on PDK versus manuals. At all. PDKs are freakin otherworldly. Really just trying to see the actual rarity of the last of the Turbo manuals.
Thanks!

Isn't that answered by phil c in post #11 above? The Road & Track excerpt he quoted says there were 88 manual Turbo cars made in 2012....
Oh you're right! Totally missed that.Tom wrote: Wed Apr 05, 2023 9:29 am Isn't that answered by phil c in post #11 above? The Road & Track excerpt he quoted says there were 88 manual Turbo cars made in 2012....

First off thank you everyone who chimed in! Got more information from this thread than I ever got back from Porsche themselves. So thanks again.
And in case someone else stumbles across this question in the future about 997.2 Turbos with manuals, I started a Google Sheet tracking this info https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... sp=sharing
So far I know about 3 2012 Turbos so far with MTs. Will add to the list as I find them. Only 85 more to go!
Cheerios,

You do have your work cut out to find the remaining 85, but what's life without challenges?ASMR_IRL wrote: Wed Apr 05, 2023 12:37 pm First off thank you everyone who chimed in! Got more information from this thread than I ever got back from Porsche themselves. So thanks again.
