Then I heard RS Barn was closing up shop and selling off their inventory, so I grabbed a stage one cam:
Here's a comparison of the RS Barn cam (left) to a stock turbo (right) and an NA cam (middle) waay more duration than stock

Then came the fun of degreeing in the cam. I got a great deal on this cam gear, but which one of these marks is supposed to be TDC? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I finally got it degreed in, but it took quite a bit of advance to get it right.

Oh, also, because why keep this "simple" I also swapped out the M-Tune for a VEMS EMS and that pretty much brings us up to now - I got it running and drove it to my tuner and they've been fiddling with it, sorting out a couple vacuum leaks that were my fault and a couple exhaust leaks that were not my fault -_-, but it should be all done and ready to get on the dyno very soon!
Meanwhile, I'm already buying parts for the next step in the build:

The Fuchs are hard to beat - unfortunately, performance tire options are dwindling for 16" wheels and so I'm probably going to be forced to do something different - I've got something in the works, actually. Change to 17 or 18" Fuchs if you like the design. I recently got a set of 18s for my 951; here's a quickie pic I took the day I got it back from the shop. Center caps will be 964 RS type, PCG-361-032-02, which are all metal with black Porsche crest. I decided on these as the silver paint is a better match to the Fuchs than the colored crest versions I also have.crackership wrote: Thu Nov 10, 2022 3:00 pmThe Fuchs are hard to beat - unfortunately, performance tire options are dwindling for 16" wheels and so I'm probably going to be forced to do something different - I've got something in the works, actually. so, funny thing - all of the 17" Fuchs replicas I've seen (including the ones now made by Otto Fuchs) are in late offset. So I'd need spacers.. just seems silly to me that I can't get aftermarket Fuchs because my car came with original FuchsLatitude48 wrote: Thu Nov 10, 2022 5:00 pmChange to 17 or 18" Fuchs if you like the design. I'm actually going to go pick up another set of wheels this weekend. I think they'll do the trick..

Somewhat randomly in response to all the cool stuff you posted:
I agree the Fuchs look best, of the ones you've posted so far.
That turbo is huge. Have you dyno'd with it? Joshua apparently moved on to other things, but I still see @Blown 944 banging gears on the quarter mile on FB. No surprise he'd set you up with a turbo off a ProStock Tractor.
Assuming your VEMS is plug and play for the stock harness, you could do no better then Kroon....
I discovered that 5mm brass tubing can be heated and bent to make that a low-profile evap fitting under the throttle body.
For the link in your signature, if you add "#start_here" at the end of the URL, the thread will start at the top of the page and not get buried under the header and banner ad space.... Like this: Build Thread (Now on Carpokes!)

This trip down memory lane to regurgitate the entire ownership experience all at once was definitely a different perspective for me - even if it was the Cliff's Notes. I bet that's roughly what it feels like to add up all the receipts.. just have to remind myself that some people buy new cars.. I've never done that, but I understand it to be far more expensive (if it's not, don't tell me - I need this justification!)
Great minds..
It is rather large.. Performance-wise, it should be the rough equivalent of a GT30R but at a fraction of the cost and super reliable... but also, physically, much larger. If I recall correctly Sid had an HX40 cold side on his 951.. I have no idea how he fit that. I'm glad to hear he's still drag racing! I met up with Joshua a couple years ago when I wound up in his neck of the woods on work and, yes, he's mostly moved on but he's doing cool stuff!Tom wrote: Thu Nov 10, 2022 6:20 pm That turbo is huge. I haven't dyno'd with this turbo yet, but I will when tuning the VEMS - care to venture a guess? I'm being intentionally pessimistic and am "expecting" 325hp. I plan to run around 20psi..
The VEMS is "plug and play" but that term doesn't quite mean what I would have expected.. It does plug in to the factory harness, but you have to modify the harness a little. Mostly just cut off the AFM plug and wire up an IAT in its place. The real reasons I'm hesitant on the Kroon are, first, I've already replaced the entire harness with the Lindsey Racing patch pieces. The Kroon is much much much prettier, but I've already seen to the functional aspect, it's just not anywhere near as pretty. Secondly, I'm not 100% convinced the VEMS is the way to go. I mean, if it works, it works but, at this point, I'm not entirely convinced.Tom wrote: Thu Nov 10, 2022 6:20 pm Assuming your VEMS is plug and play for the stock harness, you could do no better then Kroon....
This is a great idea! In retrospect, I have actually deleted the evap system, so I should probably just tap the hole for a 5mm grub screw or something similar to plug the hole. Maybe I'll do that next time I have access to the underside..Tom wrote: Thu Nov 10, 2022 6:20 pm I discovered that 5mm brass tubing can be heated and bent to make that a low-profile evap fitting under the throttle body.

Picked up a new (to me) set of wheels over the weekend. They need to be refinished, (one is already mostly stripped) but that just means I can have any color I want
All color ideas welcome
