I agree that its very close to the red that are non-PTS and therefore defeats the purpose of PTS.Tom wrote: Thu Oct 13, 2022 6:22 pm My last car was GR with gloss black trim. Is racing red $11,430 better than Guards? I've seen a 992 in PTS Signal Red, and didn't even realize it wasn't Guards until a GR car pulled up next to it. I've never seen a Racing Red 992 in real life though.
I know Ruby is popular right now, but I wonder if it will go the way of pink bathroom tiles and avocado refrigerators? I remember back in the 90's looking for a clean C2 coupe and a local dealer had one in Ruby Star. They couldn't sell it to save their life, and finally traded it with another dealer out of town since the local market wasn't buying. When I asked them why they couldn't sell it, the lot owner said "well, look at it...." That car's probably worth a fortune now, but 'bold' colors come with the risk of going out of fashion...
Since you put Viola on your list, have you considered Amethyst? That's always been on my short list for a PTS car....
Found pic on the web, not my car unfortunately....

As for 'bold' green cars, I love Gelbgrun ....![]()
I like guards but I feel like the color feels like plastic... not sure how to describe it. I also saw too many guards red porsche where the paint has faded and it doesn't look good at all.
Ruby would be a bold choice. It's popular now with the GT3 in particular but it could be hard for resale down the road.
Viola looks great IMO and a bit more understated than Ruby. Amethyst looks great but I feel that one is too understated.
So I have a 1986 Guard Red 944 Turbo, and had the 991 in Guards Red at the same time.... The 944 has had various panels repainted over the years, but still has about half its original paint. The original paint is a single stage paint (no clear coat) and the modern cars are all base/clear paints... All I can say is that the red was the same "color" on both cars, but there's no doubt the 944's original paint had a deeper or richer quality to it -- hard to describe, but I know what you are saying about the plastic look -- it's almost like a milky finish, but not milky. That said, when all waxed up, they still pop and look great to me. Stigs cousin was at the CP headquarters the other day in his GR GT4 and it looked spectacular. Here's some inspiration on Viola -- probably my choice of your PTS choices....
Of course, Signal Yellow is always on my short list too....
