Kroon Harness for 944 Turbo

Dennis... I just looked at my startup logs today. Note it's HOT out and my starting ICT temps were 99F. The ICV was closed down to 10% ish and got to 40% within a minute. Now.. My issue is that the cold idle is in the 750 range and when warm heads towards 850.

Tomorrow, I'm going to get it up to 195F and properly set the ICV and idle and see if the grounding of the orange/black makes a difference. I'll let you know

Thank you sir! Looking forward to seeing the results after shorting out the MAP pigtail. I've done the same and hope to see what happens tonight. One thing to clarify - when you say the ICV was closed down to 10%, does that mean the ODB+ showed 10% open or 90% open (meaning 10% closed).

Man do I hope Joe chimes in on this to put it to bed. It's making my head spin.

.......maybe I should have just spent another $1K on the Kroon Harness and gone the MAXXECU route.........

An update... While my idle was "good" where it's improved is when the car is 100% cold. I can now drive it right away and it's smooth. In general it's a bit better and I'm happy with how it's running.

I’m glad this F9 DME quirk is getting out to everyone. It was a big improvement on how my car idled. I just don’t understand why F9 doesn’t tell everyone to short out the MAP plug when you purchase one. It would save a lot of people headaches chasing down rough or poor idles. I was chasing mine down for 2 months.

I’m glad this F9 DME quirk is getting out to everyone. It was a big improvement on how my car idled. I just don’t understand why F9 doesn’t tell everyone to short out the MAP plug when you purchase one. It would save a lot of people headaches chasing down rough or poor idles. I was chasing mine down for 2 months.

I posted a note on RL and Joe responded:

"Yes, this is correct, I have been shipping OBD+ Sport DMEs with a special plug for the MAP socket. Apparently, the analog signal ADV28, which is normally exposed on the 35pin System Connector, puts the DME program into a special mode related to the ICV when not grounded. The special plug I now provide just shorts ADV28 to ground just like the factory does at the DME harness. If you, or anyone else, would like this special plug rather than using the provided pigtail harness, please email me directly at [email protected]. In this case, please provide your current shipping address and I will send you one at no charge. Another option is for me to solder in a high-value pull down resistor. However, I have not yet established an appropriate value for this resistor, and you would need to send in your OBD+ Sport DME to have this done. For now, the workaround is to simply install the provided 4pin pigtail harness into the MAP connector then connect the orange and black wires together."

Thanks for posting that here. If you get a chance, see if you can encourage Joe to post updates here on Carpokes too. I hope he doesn’t think we’re being critical when we flag these things. I have a propellor on my head, ha, ha? I'm a retired Boeing Propulsion Engineer... but years ago when I was a younger guy I worked with my father, who owned Aircraft Propellor Service, Inc at Sky Harbor Airport in Northbrook, Illinois. I loved working on the old wooden props. Wish I kept one.

I have 16 logged hours in a Katana DA20 -- very similar to an F-35.
