I've embarked on some custom carbon fibre parts for my car. I'm starting with the dash trim a piece that isn't currently available off the shelf. The moulds are around 60% complete at this point.
I'm going for a matt finish; something subtle that lifts the interior without being too in your face. I'll be using prepreg with a satin or matt clear, and whilst there are far easier routes, I was never going to use a wrap or carbon skinned panels.
In the meantime, I had some spare dry carbon lying around, so I knocked up a mould and pulled a couple of front brake air directors between mould making sessions. Really pleased with how they turned out. For those interested, they came in 57g lighter per side.

Very nice. If you ever decide to make more and put them up for sale I'd be interested.

Definetly going to make some more parts. In the winter I need to change my wings. I'm going to mould some carbon ones and of course paint to match. They'll be much lighter and wont rust again! I might set up a micro site for 944 carbon parts if things work out well.Tom wrote: Sun Jun 28, 2026 6:26 pmWow, very nice. Yes, a couple of asks from Instagram and will making a few for sale. Apologies @Tom Not sure the rules on selling here. Maybe I need to read the forum rules!Latitude48 wrote: Sun Jun 28, 2026 6:08 pm Very nice. If you ever decide to make more and put them up for sale I'd be interested.
How durable do you think the carbon brake scoops are relative to the metal parts?
Can you make a carbon sunroof panel? The factory one is so heavy and now I know why people put their elbows on the roof when installing them (which leaves dents in the roof).

The outer skin of the roof panel is already made of fiberglass, right? Not sure if it will make a meaningful difference to swap fiberglass for carbonfiber.

Our prevailing rule is if something is good for the community, then it's good for Carpokes. As a guy who sells niche parts as a labor of love, I'm 100% supportive. Heck, we can even run a free banner ad for you if it all works out.Outlaw944 wrote: Mon Jun 29, 2026 3:35 amYes, a couple of asks from Instagram and will making a few for sale.
