Appreciate it. Definitely going to weigh options on the stud repair. If I can just swap it out with a new one and it’s easier, and I know I’m going that route eventually - why not? Just curious where did you purchase your Tial kit? And noted on the A-Tune. I would prefer plug and play.chrischrischris wrote: Sat Jun 06, 2026 10:43 am When I removed my stock wastegate I broke every stud. Glad I had no intention of reinstalling. I think some decent machine shop tools and/or experience is needed to tackle these studs, so make sure you are careful picking your battles.
Also, sounds like the a-tune would be a nice upgrade for anyone but that particular setup may not be plug and play with your particular ECU since you may have the 24 pin DME. If so, there are a few ways to upgrade your DME to accept a 28 pin, but you should know if you need to plan for that.

Just run dual, which is the whole point of a dual port. It does make a huge difference when used with a mbr (manual boost controller) and even better yet with an EBC. The hard part is getting it installed. So if you go through that trouble then use dual portGlassmuseum wrote: Sat Jun 06, 2026 10:37 amYep thank you. I have seen it but I am going to watch it again. And prob again..944m3 wrote: Fri Jun 05, 2026 12:11 pm I’ve suggested this video on several other threads. So you might have seen it. But I highly suggest to watch, it will really help you understand everything around wg and boost controllers. I watched it maybe 3-4 times before it all sunk in and made sense. The bulb will go on and you might be able to answer the questions you
Interested. Will pm.944m3 wrote: Fri Jun 05, 2026 12:11 pm Shameless plug, I have the A-Tune chip along with MAP sensor and Bosch 3 bar fpr. This will also help with down low performance. PM if you’re interested.
I am headed exactly in this direction. Incrementally though.. The problem I have now is in what order and how I should run it (dual vs single). I am leaning towards replacing the wastegate first with Tial and either a MBC or EBC. Then complete exhaust. And then chip upgrade. Looking at this exhaust from Lindsey with cat944m3 wrote: Fri Jun 05, 2026 12:11 pm Last suggestion speaking from experiencejust do the upgrades to a dual port and mbr, sport cat, and chip if you can (but you don’t need a chip with a Tial or any wg). Bite the bullet cause nothing is easy but this is as easy as it gets. you will like the early spool up.

I may try to replace the stock wastegate stud and see if it helps. But I feel like that’s going to be close to as much work as it would for replace it. So I’ll have to see.. Assuming when you mentioned “mbr” you are referring to manual boost controller? Thanks again.
Forgot to mention, I also have a Lindsey mbr I can sell.
And if you’re getting an exhaust shop to install the tial, have them install the sport cat. Don’t worry about 3” exhaust, you don’t need it. You already have a pass through muffler. Just those simple things will make a huge difference with early spool up.

The adapter kit is sold by someone who is active on all the forums and you can possibly get them from him personally or from a few distributors. Search for Fejjj.

@chrischrischris thanks. Yeah I have seen this name mentioned. I’ll check with him. Just because I am curious about everyone setup, what size spring do you run with the Tial? Sounds like you run the Lindsey maxx chip. Do you use a MBC EBC? Wondering how you like it and what type of boost you are looking at with your setup.chrischrischris wrote: Mon Jun 08, 2026 5:20 am The adapter kit is sold by someone who is active on all the forums and you can possibly get them from him personally or from a few distributors. I have a 0.9 bar spring (about 13psi), which is higher than what I would pick for a dual port configuration - but that is what came installed. I'm using a small regulator valve as a MBC (not from Lindsey racing) and it's installed in my glovebox. I'm only allowing a small amount of pressure, about 2 psi, into the second port and thus keeping the max boost around 15 psi. I rigged up a temporary pressure gauge when I was making the initial adjustments, but then removed it once I felt all was well.

Just an update. I found a great deal on a Billy Boat full exhaust with cat delete and an older TiAl F46 dual port Wastegate. I haven’t installed yet. They were all installed together in the car that they were pulled from- an 88 Turbo. I should be able to bolt right on because it came with a custom TiAl flange to Wastegate dump. Attached some pics.
Quick question about the Wastegate and fitment. Wondering if anyone else runs a F46 and any install recommendations. From what I’ve read and can see, it looks like it is installed backwards from the OEM Wastegate so it will point in a different orientation. Wondering if there will be any clearance issues when installing. There seems to be maybe a heat shield or bracket attached to the torque tube and not sure if there is enough clearance. Seems like a very long item to insert into this space. I have found a couple of pics from old forums but nothing super clear. But it does seem like other have installed these fine so I assuming it will squeeze in.
Just a note. As you will see in the pics, this is a one of the older TiAl’s that does not have a serial number and the “made in USA” stamp. I sent the pics to TiAL and they verified its authenticit. I know that the F46 is a bit of overkill from what I have read but couldn’t pass up the deal..
Anyways, if anyone’s has any first hand accounts of fitment for a f46 for 86 Turbo, pics, pointers etc, I would appreciate it!
