Good move. Seems like Porsche needs to fill the 718 void though. Since the 911 came out, they've virtually always had a sports car below the 911 to reach the broader sports car market and foster their base (912, 914, 924, 944, 968, 986/7, 981, 718), and those cars are often credited with 'saving' the company. With prices and the economy where they are today, seems like they need to fill that space more than ever, SUV's not withstanding.blueline wrote: Sat May 09, 2026 4:17 am More from today's WSJ regarding Porsche's refocusing on its core business. Agreed it is a good move, though there is much to be done.
They have some major challenges ahead- the missteps on EVs to be corrected with a major gap in their European market offerings with no gasoline Macan currently on offer, new competition from China in the non-US markets plus the market share losses in the China market itself, the possibility if a global recession on the way, lack of US manufacturing facilities to address the tariff realities.
Not a simple turnaround.
