So I got this 87,951 that I am trying to get drivable. Ideally this car will be a good HPDE car as well as a spirited street driving, nothing like a full competition race car, but good enough to drive it fast and safely on the track.

I am including some pictures for you guys to see, but basically the car sits very low in the rear, and it rides like a wagon.

I removed the rear shocks; they are Koni 1035 sports but are completely frozen they will not move in or out at all. I then removed the torsion bar and is obvious it is not factory; it measures about 26.7 mm. I haven't touched the front, but if the rear is any indication, the front shocks are also gone. The good thing is they modified the car so I can remove the TB without dropping the suspension.

So the basic question is what to do. I can buy all 4 Koni shocks for about $800, or Parago has a coilover kit for about $1900, and then there is Riaction with a TD remove kit.

I am really at a loss when it comes to suspension, and from what I am reading, the learning curve is steep, and it can be costly.

I could really use some advice from the group on what would be a reasonably good setup for under $2000.

I just posted a similar in the other 944 forum, https://carpokes.com/viewtopic.php?t=4672 -- I'll watch this thread too.

I posted my budget setup in that thread.

If you’re interested, I have a pair of Koni rear shocks. I used them for maybe a week before I took them off and tried the QA1’s. I can let them go for $160 for the pair., plus shipping. 2014 production date but only used for a week. They still look and feel brand new.

These are the exact models I have.
