It's been a little time since I've had time to do some more testing but tonight I was able to use a MAC NOID light to verify I'm getting power to the injectors, I'm getting spark using an inline tester, and I'm getting fuel pressure at what I'm calling the "test port" at the front of the fuel rail.

It does not even attempt to give any indication of starting. With fuel, spark, and air I should at least get a sputtering of an attempt to start.

Seeing all three of these I would think the DME is possibly working. Any idea where I should look next? I've seen a suggestion of maybe the injectors being clogged but all of them?

I also know my reference sensor and speed sensors are good as they test fine with a multi meter and they put out voltage in the correct range when turning over the starter.

At this point what else is there to test/replace? The car cranks over freely but there is never even the slightest attempt at starting. It might be the DME but I really have not found any good suggestions on how to test the DME other than just swap it out against another one. I don't have a second DME to test with so I'm kind of at a dead in.

Any suggestions on how to test the DME short of just buying another one?
Did you just put new connectors on the old wires or install patch harnesses like LR and 944 online sell?

If you want to send me your DME, I'll toss it in my car and see if it fires up... :)

I may have found the issue. I think the injectors were gummed up and not firing off. I rebuild and cleaned them tonight and ran into a new issue on reassembly that I started a new thread on. Maybe this is the issue but now I've got a new rabbit hole to go down.

Success! I was able to start the car and let it run an about 30 seconds today which accomplished my pre timing belt goal.

I was able to complete the side quest to get the crumbled pieces of the plug wires out of the engine. Once that was done and everything was back together I still had a no start. I ordered new plugs, plug wires, cap, and rotor tune up kit from 944 Online. I replaced those four things and gave it a try again. It took about 10 seconds and it fired up for the first time since 2018.

I'd say in the end it was a two part problem with the injectors and ignition.

A happy car (and owner!) to be running again after 7-years. Congrats!
