My car has code 946 and the descriptor is "Leather/leatherette Seats" Does anybody know if the seats were full leather, partial leather, or all leatherette (vinyl)? If partial, what parts were leather and what parts were vinyl?
Thanks

Looking at my 89 951, I'm convinced the seating surface is leather, the sides of the seat and the back covering have a different grain and feel leading me to think they are vinyl. This makes sense to my thinking as the primary personal interface is the seating surface, the sides and back of the seat are less visible. A technique I've used to check is to look at the surface when you put pressure on it from squeezing with your fingers. Most leathers I've seen will give a bit and you can see micro wrinkles in the material surface that vinyl/leatherette do not exhibit.
But thats just my opinion/observation.

What he said ^^^^^.
“Leather/Leatherette” means real leather for the insets of the bottom and back of each seat…the parts that you touch when you are seated and leaning back. The rest of the seat upholstery is vinyl or “pleather”.
