The Felicity Ace caught fire Mid Atlantic on her voyage from Emden to Eastern USA. The fire originated in the Cargo Hold. All crew members have now been evacuated.

Porsche just posted this on my TYD:
"We are aware of an incident aboard the Felicity Ace, a specialized cargo ship carrying certain Porsche vehicles. Your dealership will provide you with additional information on how this impacts you as soon as we have additional information and know the full scope of the issue."

I wonder what Porsche is going to be able to do for customers who have cars they ordered on there.
It's not like they have excess production capacity right now.
My SA said there's over 1000 cars on there.
It's obviously not Porsche's fault but I'm sure customers will be expecting them to make it right in some way.

The Felicity Ace is still burning as of this morning (Thursday). Arrangements are being made to tow her to a port where she can be salvaged. Sounds like a total loss of the ship and the cars.
Very thankful that the entire crew of 22 were rescued safely and didn't sustain any injuries.
I feel for all of our fellow enthusiasts who have lost their long awaited dream car, including one of my neighbors. Hopefully, Porsche will replace them as quickly as possible.

I would assume Porsche will put replacements at the front of the line, presumably pushing back those already in line?Hawk wrote: Thu Feb 17, 2022 7:37 am The Felicity Ace is still burning as of this morning (Thursday). No definitive word from Porsche as of this morning and most likely not for some time. I have read that they will not be able to determine the extent of the damage and which individual cars need to be replaced until the ship is actually salvaged. There is apparently some hope that there are pockets / areas on various decks that may be unaffected. May just be part of the process for legal / insurance purposes (and, dare I say, "the German way"). Quite frankly, I find this very difficult to believe. The smoke damage alone would be enough to create a total loss. I'm sure the many different constituents involved will be examining the salvage operation very carefully.Tom wrote: Thu Feb 17, 2022 7:43 amI would assume Porsche will put replacements at the front of the line, presumably pushing back those already in line?Hawk wrote: Thu Feb 17, 2022 7:37 am The Felicity Ace is still burning as of this morning (Thursday). And, of course, the obvious speculation as to the cause of the fire will have to be answered - EV Lithium-ion battery???

This is an update as of late this afternoon that claims that the fire is still progressing and consuming more of the ship:

The fire on the merchant ship "Felicity Ace", whose 22 crew members were safely rescued on Wednesday, "has progressed" and "is consuming several sectors" of the boat that "remains stable", off Faial, in the Azores.
"From yesterday to today, the ship has maintained the same stability. There is a fire on board. It has progressed significantly from midship to the bridge and is consuming various sectors of the ship", explained the captain of the Port of Horta, João Mendes Cabeças.
The merchant ship, which was carrying automobiles, issued a warning on Wednesday morning for having "active fire in the cargo hold". The "Felicity Ace", flying the Panamanian flag, was sailing 90 nautical miles (about 170 km) southwest of the island of Faial, in the Azores, when the alert was given.
Mendes Cabeças told Lusa that "there is currently no risk of fuel spillage" and "no source of pollution has been recorded yet", adding that the ship has "diesel and oils" on board.
As for the fire aboard the "Felicity Ace", he admitted to being "difficult to extinguish" in the current situation. "We never know how the fire will progress. Whether it could reach the fuel tanks. But, for now, our biggest concern right now is navigation safety, because we have a runaway ship with no crew on board. And the second problem will be think about how to tow it", he pointed out.
The ship "is in the middle of the sea and has a very large superstructure, so combat is difficult", explained the captain of the Port of Horta.
?The Portuguese Navy's ocean patrol ship "NRP Setúbal" remains at the site to monitor the situation, and so far, no traces of pollution in the area are visible, according to the Navy today in a statement."
