Hi all,
I’d love to have CarPlay on my 991.1. I have a lot of hesitation doing an aftermarket install myself though. Has anyone done this install? Was it achievable by a mere mortal?
Thanks!
Anyone using aftermarket CarPlay on PCM 3.1?

Do you mean Carplay? Have you seen the Auto Amateur channel? James has many videos that talk about and show the installation. Here's the Gotcha's video that might be helpful. He's done many installs.
I just did Android Auto (wired). It works flawlessly Took 10 minutes to program. It cost $200. My car is a 991.2 so not sure if PCM version is same as yours. I can PM you the contact information for the person who sent me the instructions. He probably does Car Play too.

we did this recently for Android. I would reach out to 718socal and see what he knows.

I had the wireless NN2 system installed. It works great with both android or iPhone. However the iPhone layout has larger icons , colorful display and more apps. After watching the shop perform the installation, I would not recommend DYI unless you are very technical on electronics. The radio must be open to install the circuit board. All the factory system are operational including the Mic. I have a 2014 so now I have both front and rear parking cameras with parking lines.

I have the NM Automotive unit in my car with the additional backup camera. The previous owner installed it, so I don't know all the details on the install. It works fine, sounds OK. It goes through the AUX input so it's not a digital connection and you can tell the quality is compromised.
I look forward to if/when Porsche comes out with a Classic system for the 991.1.
