But with VW now threatening to close plants, I wonder when this starts applying to Porsche
Will Porsches Sales Drop convince Corporate to build the 718 beyond 2025?

The 718 is indeed a rare car. Unlike the 911 du jour

The bad news for Porsche is they don't sell very many 718s.
The good news for any of us who own a 718 is that Porsche doesn't sell very many 718s.
When the platform is EV only, I think the normal depreciation pattern for our cars will change...in our favor.
Will used 718 prices GO UP? Possibly, but $100,000 of Apple stock is a surer bet, although it's not nearly as fun on Pacific Coast Highway.
Drive 'em. Take care of 'em. Enjoy 'em.

Probably too late for Porsche to back track. The lead time on supplier contracts is such that if they reversed course now there might be a year or more break before they could ramp up again. Or so I suspect, but can't say for certain.

A dismal 6% of sales in the 2nd qtr in 2024. The 718 is done, folks. The EV? with a price increase? Even the Taycan is selling less.

I've been saying this from the start as soon as they announced (were forced into EV). Big mistake. They should've seen the numbers and taken Porsche in a different direction when given the opportunity months ago. Sideline Audi for Formula One and take the money and enter Formula One to go head-to-head with Ferrari and take Porsche to the next level.

Spec'd like it won't be made anymore.

Yes! And the F1 effort would have been awesome. I was disappointed to see it wither away. Porsche has let several golden opportunities slip away the past several years.Gotti of the Deep wrote: Thu Sep 05, 2024 6:29 amI totally passed right over it!
