I was looking for a project car to work on with my kids and happened upon a 1984 944 that had been sitting for about 1.5 years outside after an unfortunate incident with a transfer truck. The good news is that all of the damage is cosmetic in nature and there is no structural damage at all. The bad news is that the sitting has taken its toll and it needs a lot of work. We decided to pick the car up and try to bring it a new life. The car runs great and had a ton of work completed just before it was taken off the road. Here are a few photos from when we picked it up.

We have already done a ton of work to it. First thing was to get it dry inside which you can see the interior was stripped out and properly cleaned and dried. The fender that was on it was not in great shape and the previous owner gave me a new fender, door, and front valence. The right front suspension was bent ( strut, strut housing, knuckle, and control arm) all of it was replaced. The transmission had a bad third gear synchro and upon replacing it we found it was a turbo transmission which explained why it struggled to climb hills in 5th at 45. All of those items have been replaced. Currently we have new strut mounts, power steering pump kit, and cv boots to go in. After the mechanicals are sorted it will be the start of body work and paint.

More work completed over the weekend. New upper strut mounts, cv boots (hate that job), and backup light switch. Got the alignment done today and it drives like a new car. Attached are photos of the kids doing the strut mounts and the car waiting for the alignment to be completed.
