I went to see the movie today and thoroughly enjoyed it. Not the best movie ever, but for a car-guy...pretty cool! But it does beg the question...where is our Porsche movie?
I would think somebody could put together a terrific movie(s) about our favorite marque. Kind of surprised it has not as yet been done (as far as I know).

I saw "Ferrari" last week and liked it.
Not sure if you saw the thread I started about the movie several weeks ago. I've updated the thread a few times and added a post earlier today.

A Porsche type movie would be good. There's way too much history to do much more than highlight a specific period or incident, much as "Ferrari" did. My guess is that Porsche has an extraordinarily strong grip and tight lid on their history and would want to have the final say in any production, at least if it necessitated Porsche's input and involvement, likely the case for any kind of a decent film.

Thanks for the heads up, Tim. I think I'll delete this thread as I'd not seen yours previously.
edit: Well, I don't see how to delete a post so I guess it stays! If you know how, please let me know.

I was thinking the same thing after the Ferrari movie was announced, but I'd want the Porsche movie to be dead accurate and it would have to start prior to 1900, or when Porsche was 18. I have no issues with 3+ hour movies or better still, a mini series.aboyandhisdog wrote: Tue Jan 02, 2024 3:20 pmI went to see the movie today and thoroughly enjoyed it. I missed "Ferrari" as it was a free showing at the casino in town. Like all my car movies that I own, I'll order it. I wonder if Niki Lauda's comment of "this car drives like s**t" is in it? And I wonder if the Lamborghini spat was mentioned?
Off topic, I almost bought a low mileage (aren't all Ferraris low mileage) 550 Maranello weeks before I bought my GTS. No worries as I remember Tony, who was born and lives in Italy, who owned an independent car parts business in Italy, tells me in Italian, "Ferraris are beautiful to look at, but if you want a quality sports car, buy a Porsche". That was back in the late 2000s prior to buying my 993...not that I needed his advice.

I was thinking the man and not only his cars. I would hope for more of a family history being shown, the family dynasty.RDMcG wrote: Sun Feb 25, 2024 4:51 am Well, the Porsche movie might have a problem for the period from 1933 to 1945, so I would think it might have to start in 1948.
I have fairly extensive Porsche library which includes that period.
Ferdinand Porsche worked on cars decades before the first 356 was built. And his son Ferry was born in 1909.

If you had driven the 550 you would have realised that this guy was talking nonsense.911-Purist wrote: Sat Feb 24, 2024 11:51 pmOff topic, I almost bought a low mileage (aren't all Ferraris low mileage) 550 Maranello weeks before I bought my GTS. Driving it and owning it are two different things.Thom wrote: Mon Feb 26, 2024 11:48 amIf you had driven the 550 you would have realised that this guy was talking nonsense.
I have spoken to other Ferrari owners and they generally say the same things. Ultra expenive repairs, in the shop often and the vast majority have very little mileage on them. Why is that?
