12 months? Really -- is that the norm for a Cayenne right now?

Nothing that I'm aware of regarding manufacturing delays, although the latest is that 911's and three other Porsche models (including Cayenne's) are being held in ports for compliance issues/verification that I've been told is emissions related. 718's are in the clear, as I imagine are Taycans.

So far no word that it's affecting our Cayenne. The boat it's on is scheduled to dock at Houston t̶o̶m̶o̶r̶r̶o̶w̶ ̶(̶Saturday F̶e̶b̶ ̶3̶r̶d̶)̶ Tuesday Feb 6th. Maybe we'll find out more then. It might be engine specific but that's just a guess on my part. While our dealer has been notified of vehicles being held in port, including some incoming Cayenne's, so far ours is still showing no delays per the dealer. Obviously that could change.

There is a local customer who did the European delivery and since returned home, only to find out that his Cayenne has been quarantined - I think they may be holding his at Emden. He's been notified that it may be April before he gets his Cayenne.

Do you have an actual allocation from Porsche or are you waiting in line to for one (allocation)? Not saying this is the case for you, but sometimes when a dealer says something like "you're #5 ..." that signifies that you are #5 on their wait list to receive an official allocation from Porsche. I'm very curious if there are deeper supply or other issues that have suddenly cropped up at Porsche, so knowing how your order attempt fits in might shed further light on whatever it is that's going on.

In either case, not being able to get an allocation for a Cayenne at will seems unusual and is cause for concern in my estimation. To me it signifies that there may be deeper problems with supply chain, compliance or other some issue as you mentioned. I hope that's not the case.

Love this build … have built one very similar to it. Will be interested to hear if the chalk interior holds up to color transfer from blue or black jeans.

I have the chalk interior in my Cayenne GTS since spring of 2022 and it has no discolouration despite almost daily use.

Our Cayenne did finally get deposited on dry earth in Houston 10-days ago (Feb 9th) after being on the boat for exactly 5-weeks from the day it left Emden.

Unfortunately, it's going to remained quarantined for a bit along with a large number of other Porsches and Audis until the small electronic component can be replaced. No idea yet as to how long that will take. I'm thinking that it probably won't be here until April but that's a guess at this point.

We're really looking forward to seeing the Cayenne in the flesh whenever it gets here. Meanwhile. I found and bought a '21 Cayman GTS this past weekend to play around with.

Sorry to hear that. When my Cayenne GTS arrived in 2022 it was not too late but had a stop sale on it due to a fault on the Burmeister sound system which basically disabled the entire display.
As I recall it sat at the dealer for about three weeks till the part arrived.

It's always unfortunate, but these things happen. Honestly, I'm surprised it doesn't happen more often, considering the complex technology involved in modern vehicles.

I do feel for others in this current SNAFU who have extenuating situations such as those who took Euro delivery and have already paid for (or are making pmts on) their cars. In addition to that pain, their vehicle's in-service date started the day they took delivery in Germany (ie: the warranty clock started ticking!) and I imagine they are also paying insurance since that delivery day also marked possession and ownership. (The 2-week complimentary insurance for Euro driving is long gone.)

After 3+ months since final assembly (Port of Emden 1-week, on the boat 5-weeks, quarantined at the port in Houston 7-weeks) the Cayenne S is here! Will pick up Monday. Yay! Photos to come in a week or so on the "Post Your Cayenne Photos....." thread.

Meanwhile, Mark sent this pic to us from the dealership tonight:
