Hi everyone, This is technically my second Porsche. Had a 912 for a short time but was way over my head and never had a chance to work on it before I sold it off....if I knew what I know now.....

That was about 20 years ago. Bought this 944 basketcase about 5 years ago as a total gamble to learn on and learn I have! It has sat for most of that time but I go through periods of time where I turn the wrenches. I've done a lot of work and am getting close to road ready.

I've been a member of quite a few automotive forums over the years. I miss the activity. I hope there is a resurgence. FB is not the same.

Here it is when I got it home.

Welcome aboard! Doesn't look like a basket-case in that pic, but if that's the 'before' I think we need to see the 'after' picture!!

I suspect a lot of Porsche fans have similar stories. I sold my '85 with under 50k miles for $20K back in the day :(

We started Carpokes for the very reason you mention -- the other places just aren't the same anymore. Too much focus on profits and 'impressions' and competing as a 'social media' platform -- to the point where the members have become a means to an end these days. Carpokes is built BY Porsche fans, FOR Porsche fans, with none of the corporate influences that kill the esprit de corps elsewhere. Members are the means and the end here. :) Long live Carpokes, where civility and enthusiasm are indeed making a resurgence!!
