Heh, Crazy Eddie, you make a bunch of really cool stuff that often Porschephiles do not need, but we just HAVE to have, ha!! Well, after a year of getting one and now two Porsches the one thing that is driving my wife and I nuts are the wholly inadequate sun visors. I don't think I have missed it but I believe if someone could design these poorly designed visors with an extension one could pull out and cover wherever the sun was hitting our vision , folks would line up to buy. I know I would buy a set for both our Macan S and the Cayman GTS. My son sells Porsches and he says this is one of the biggest complaints with Porsche buyers and though they are fairly sufficient if the sun is directly ahead as soon as it is at an angle or coming through the windows from the side , it is beyond annoying.
I figured you are Crazy enough to look into this and I would bet a poll would show you there is demand. Still saving up for your excellent side bolsters to cover my CF full buckets in my GTS.
Crappy, crappy Visors!!!!

My ancient GMC pickup has visors far, far superior to the simple flaps Porsche has designed. Frustrating.WillyDaP wrote: Wed Dec 20, 2023 8:12 am Heh, Crazy Eddie, you make a bunch of really cool stuff that often Porschephiles do not need, but we just HAVE to have, ha!! Apparently, the Porsche designers in Deutschland responsible for interiors never drive when the sun is on the horizon. (Vampyres à la Nosferatu, lying silently in their crypts until the sun goes down...)

But do Eddie's extend outward on the arms in addition to swiveling up/down and side-to-side? Our complaint is that Porsche's visors (at least on later models) are limited in what they do.

Ah, I haven't talked to him about it, but in general he just wraps things in leather, so highly doubt he can add any functionality.blueline wrote: Wed Dec 20, 2023 9:19 am But do Eddie's extend outward on the arms in addition to swiveling up/down and side-to-side? Porsche does some things badly for sure ; like most German manufacturers they do not really understand the North American market for comfort and convenience in some areas. Visors are bad but cupholders are worse such as placing one behind the manual gearshift in the current GT3 or the vibrating rings shat shake up coffee in the 997.
I remain convinced that there is a major year end celebration of German cupholder designers where a vintage bottle to schnapps in awarded for the inventor of the most impossible cupholder and there are great quantities of beer drunk in celebration at some Schloss in the Bavarian mountains.

Its the grudgingly acceptance that Americans are more interested in convenience and comfort....RDMcG wrote: Wed Dec 20, 2023 12:41 pm Porsche does some things badly for sure ; like most German manufacturers they do not really understand the North American market for comfort and convenience in some areas. WHAT!?!?! Drink AND Drive, how utterly wrong. You DRIVE or you DRINK, you shouldn't do both.....
But then, we have lower speed limits and possibly endless miles of boring roads.

Germany is 25 times smaller than the US, but its Interstate ( Autobahn ) system is only 6 times smaller than the US's high speed network. That means you are likely to be going faster traveling around Deutschland, so no time for trinken, just eyes up and right foot down.
But, regardless the sun do shine on occasion and sun visors are a safety measure. I did mention Das Scheiss Sunn Visor when I filled out my Porsche new owner questionnaire, so do you think future buyers will benefit ,ha?

I can’t find the reference but I remember reading that the 718’s interior geometry did not allow for a visor extension. Is there an extension in other Porsche models?
