Hi all,
I'm spec'ing a new 992 GTS and think it would look fantastic in ruby star (paint to sample color).
Obviously this is expensive and was wondering if anyone can talk about whether the PTS is worth it or should I save my money and just get a ruby star wrap?

Just my two cents, but if you are sure you want that color, I'd do PTS. I've never seen a vinyl wrap that looked as good as paint -- they may be out there, but every wrapped car I've seen looks, well, wrapped. Maybe go seem come in person wherever you'd get it done? I think solid colors are even more noticeable, which I think is why the most eye-catching wraps tend to be matte finishes, or wild patterns, or reflective mirror-like finishes. Wraps don't last very long either -- 2 to 7 years according to most.
PTS isn't cheap, by a long shot, and then you may want to PPF the paint to protect the investment, so it'll cost you for sure. But, I'd think a PTS car --especially in that color -- will retain a lot of that value over time. Trust you know the winning car in the GT class at Rennwerks this year was a Ruby Star GT3 -- kind of a people's choice color right now.
In contrast, I'd worry the vinyl would actually reduce the value of a car -- I'd personally have a hard time buying a car if I could see the condition of the actual paint...
As I said, just my 2 cents...

Wraps have come a long way and at the end of the day you I can always tell the difference between a wrap and paint. There is now a liquid wrap that gets very close to paint however I have not seen it in person so I don't know how good it really is. It is applied similar to paint form what I'm told. Wrap cars always bother me because the original paint color is always exposed and for me it kills the illusion. The use case for me for wrapping a car is to experiment with a different color however it not a substitute for the color you want.
The grind stops when time stops.

Thanks! Looks like PTS it is.
Thanks for confirming that its a bad idea to wrap the car from the start.
My budget is about 170k to 175k for the GTS so I can cover the PTS cost.
