SOX, great post!
I wish I'd had mine since new but like to feel I saved it from a slow death in a random garage in Florida.
Nice to hear from a longtime owner who still keeps it going! Mines an 89 that I purchased 20 years ago and tried t keep it alive while my son went through High School and college. I'm still trying to revive and upgrade.
Welcome to CARPOKES and thank you for joining!

Hey fellas, thanks for the warm welcome.

ROB III, it's funny that you ask about differences in their "personalities". The 944 turbo is so well armed at the track (I did a few sessions at the track before the kids) that it would literally out-brake and out-run everything except 911 turbos. I found that the turbo S could really brake late into the turn and if you keep it in the boost zone in the esses that everything else kinda seems slow. As everybody knows, these need to be in the 3500 rpm zone where everything kind of syncs. Super capable chassis that can take a lot more HP/torque. Slingshot type of personality once you're on a nice curvy open road.

The 993, in my mind, is just so super of a classic and unique 911 experience. In the cabin, way more comfortable than the earlier series. The chassis rotates so well and the power is linear, but still deceptively quick. But it really is the handling that stands out...feels like a faster turn rate than the 944 turbo. In the next year or so, I'm going to lower the car with Porsche M030 Euro Springs and I have a set of hollow spokes that will make the car even better in my mind.

In conclusion, both outstanding examples of amazing engineering but kind of like comparing an Me262 jet (extremely fast and stable) with a British Spitfire (very fast turn rate) of WWII vintage.
