Here are some picture during the completion of the engine.
Cam timing is done, and the chain tensioner istalled.
Continuing assembly.
I'm using silicon gaskets for the valve cover.
The fan and housing was powder coated over 10 years ago. Good to see it holds up nice.

Just curious, but how many hours did the whole process take? (asking about your time in garage--not downtime for any outsourcing)

Last weekend I took my 2276CC aircooled 4 cylinder apart for a camshaft swap. I was hoping for a simple in and out, maybe a quick hone on the cylinders to break the glaze and put it back together. I unfortunately the center split main bearing was starting to show copper. Dang.
Broke it the rest of the way down and took the case the shop for a professional assessment.

The engine and transmission is back in the car.

When I tried to hook up the clutch cable it just broke at the thread where the two adjustment nuts are. OK, I need a new one. So I started to disconnect the cable at the pedal cluster, and found that also needs an little work. The good thing was that all the interior bits and pieces were already removed, because I had to install a new wiring harness for the power seats and seat heater.
The good thing was that I had a new shaft and all new brass bushings set in my spare box.
I blasted and powder coated the base and installed everything.
Also the new to the car power seats are installed and all is working.
I already made about 130 miles on the fresh engine. Still need a few adjustments to CIS.
