The ABS pump in my 944 S2 occasionally makes a clackity clackity sound when I start the engine. If I put my foot on the brake the sounds goes away. Any idea what's happening or how to rectify the problem? Thanks.

Not totally sure, never really dealt with this on my 944, but on the 928 I know it's the case that you sometimes have to bleed the unit. Without a tool to trigger the ABS pump, I was instructed to bleed the unit at the nuts for the hard lines. When my 928 S4 had mushy brakes, this was part of what I went through to get them to feeling better. On the 928, I think that a slow, gravity bleed was enough to clear some small bubbles that were in there.
Good luck

These older abs systems can be tricky. Might want to get it checked by someone who knows 944s specifically, just to be safe. My brother's makes weird noises sometimes too.
