Hoping this will be an active thread.
My wife and I are a bit Dog crazy.
Our current dog is a rescue all the way from Thailand. She is a tri-pawd (car accident in Thailand), saved by an amazing organization. She is so sweet. 22 breeds in her ( DNA Testing). ~25% Golden Retriever, and she looks like a very small Golden ~36 lbs. This is Daisy:

What a great looking dog! Hi Daisy! That is quite the rescue story. Having been in Thailand for a brief time many, many, many years ago, I can attest to how crazy the drivers there are, so a car/truck wreck doesn't surprise me - there are (or were) inordinate numbers of crashes, usually quite deadly as I was told. Maybe it's changed in the intervening years but I doubt it. Wonderful people - warm and friendly - but they are beyond nuts behind the wheel. The road rules are that there are no rules.

I am also beyond dog crazy. Without my dogs nothing would matter and that includes the P cars. Sorry. My wife's with me on that but maybe not quite to the extent I am. I hate that canine lives are relatively short but I enjoy every moment with them and the memories of times spent with them never leaves. They'll always have their home with me as long as I live.

Funny, I was thinking of starting the same thread. Great idea.

We have two rescues. Both American Eskimo's. We haven't had Tuckey DNA tested, but we did test Kenny. We got him at 8 weeks old, and some of his features hinted of something else. Ends up he's 25% Jack Russell (and has the energy to prove it). The rest is American Eskimo. Come to find out there's a designer breed called eskie-jack.

Both came from kill shelters in Kentucky, We got Tuckey first, and used the end of Kentucky to name her. A couple years latter we got Kenny. He's 7. We think Tuckey is around 10-12.

Rusty & Trina. Not rescues although Rusty was in need of a home at a very young age. Both are females. (I know, Rusty is not really a girl name but it fit her.) All my dogs have been females going back to my first dog, a Mostly Collie when I was around five years old that we got as a puppy for a couple of dollars as I was later told. (That was a long time ago!) She didn't care for anyone but me.

Have had Rotties for the past 40+ years, all raised from puppyhood. Never been a day during that time when I didn't have at least one, usually two at a time and sometimes three.

Please meet Starsky! Our good friend rescued him from a recluse (with addiction problems) who had like 30 dogs and neglected them all until the authorities stepped in. Our friend then got cancer and passed away and we promised to adopt him. Suffice to say, he's an integral part of the family now and has fully adjusted --and then some-- from his bumpy childhood.

Thank You all for supporting the intent of this thread. Our furry friends are so resilient, and the rescued ones seem to know when they hit the jackpot with a good furever home. We had two rescues before Daisy. As @blueline suggested they just were not given enough time. Buddy (black), and Cody (white) were wonderful little boys. Cody came to Canada from Texas.

I built a platform for the passenger seat and then had Coco Mats make a mat for me. I also built a wood armrest to make the armrest the same level as the one on the door. Had Coco mats make a cover for it. This makes long drives much more comfortable and it is a good durable "pass through" for the dogs:

I added a 3" strip of foam to the seat backs to level things out and then also had a Coco mat made to fit:

If my dogs can't go with me in the 911, then I don't need to go! And if the 911 doesn't work for the dogs, it doesn't work for me!!! With a nice platform in the back and in the front passenger seat, I can take the dogs anywhere. And...I've had no complaints from Holly!

Excellent sentiments, although my big doggies can only go in my truck - they are a bit too large for anything else. However, I have the back fixed up in my GMC much as yours, with the seats perpetually folded forward and a large padded platform that I built that fits the entire space. They have a huge area that's safe and comfortable, covered it in anti-fatigue mat that's soft and durable. Lots of storage underneath too.

You may note an item in my pic that I think is the same as what I see in yours - the DB Power jump start. The same yellow stripe around the storage case jumped out at me in your pic.

Have been meaning to mention your user name because I knew what it referenced but I now see an even closer fit! Never without your dog. Cool! Ellison had it right in his novel. And dogs do communicate well, maybe not the same kind of telepathy as portrayed in the movie/book, but not that far off!

A young Don Johnson in 1975. It's probably been 35 years since I last saw the movie. Just looked it up and it was set in a post-apocalyptic 2024, next year. 2024 seemed so far away 43 years ago...

Good eye, Tim...that IS the DB Power jump starter. When I learned that you couldn't get to the battery if it was dead, I knew I had to have a jumper pack that I could access. Fortunately have never had to use it.

And...you found me out re: A Boy and His Dog! I saw that movie about 40 years ago and it must have made an impression as I've been using that as my handle ever since the computer age. I didn't remember that it was set in 2024. Yikes! I love the last line: "I know what love is. A boy loves his dog."
