My nav(17 base model) always figures the shortest route, which usually isn't the best/quickest/most sensible. I deselected everything in the options for nav but it still does it. Surely there's some way to choose "best route" or "fastest route" or something.

Use Waze or Google Maps. I believe 2017 has Carplay. For my 2013 I put one of those CarPlay/Android Auto modules in my PCM and it works great. Also the Porsche maps are so outdated and I believe cost money to update. https://ecarguides.com/product/porsche- ... -panamera/

Agree 100%. Porsche's annual Connect services are priced at ridiculous levels - it makes absolutely no sense for them to price the subscriptions at nosebleed levels, discouraging anyone to subscribe. The pricing tiers for additional services are even more stupid. I'd like to know who's in charge of the programs - they and their complicit staff need to be replaced. In addition, as I've been told, most (all?) of the maps/software will not update without a subscription once the vehicle is out of OEM warranty (or maybe sooner?). I wouldn't trust them for guidance without consistent and reliable updates, that's for sure.

Waze is superior in every respect and costs nothing. Traffic, police, and hazard alerts, re-routing when necessary, excellent voice guidance and more. Even without Android Auto or Car Play, one can use the Waze by just listening to the route guidance or mounting and placing the device in a such a manner as to be safe. (Google, who owns Waze, is going to integrate the two teams, Waze and Google Maps. I hope they don't screw up Waze in the process.)

As I've said many times before to many people, Porsche's PCM software, while continuing to improve, still leaves much to be desired. That's especially true for older versions. Any Porsche PCM software older than 4 or 5 years is highly suspect. The software can be oddly configured too, as is the case for a lot of European designed software. (See Aim for another example. Great hardware but weird software that can be challenging and time consuming to figure out.)

Soon-to-be obsolete software and associated highly complex systems are one big, glaring area that us "modern" Porsche owners (owners of all new cars of all makes, actually) are going to be facing in the years down the road. I often wonder how well these incredibly complex machines will fare as time marches on. Will they still work? Will replacement parts be available? At what cost? Probably not going to turn out very well in many cases.

Our fantastic air-cooled friends here at Carpokes who can fabricate, 3-D print, re-build and innovate will have the last laugh.

However, I still love my new cars! Gotta stay in what works for me and what fits my wheelhouse! :D

Not without coding. This is something that should be standard, IMO.

Controls available via driver's door panel switches in our Cayenne to both open and close rear hatch. Can open via fob but I don't see any way to close it with the fob.

(The macro lenses on newer phones really do a good job showing every spec of dust, every scratch, every mar, every flaw, all dirt, everything!!)

Try holding it down for a few seconds , like you do on the door switch.

Had our ‘16 for 4 years before my wife figured out the trick with the door switch.

Great tip and I bet it works! Wife is out with the Cayenne but I'll give that a shot when she returns.

Thanks and welcome to Carpokes!
