To 914 or not to 914…that is the question

911, 912, 914, 356 and all other air-cooled cars!

That Willow Green flared 914 belongs to Greg T. from Tracy. It is a spectacular car he built in his own garage. He is a great guy and obviously very talented. My car was parked a couple of spaces down from Greg's.

Welcome to Carpokes! That is an incredible garage build. I would have assumed it was a resto-house pseudo-Singer special. Super nice job. If you know the owner, get him over here. Would love to do a mini-feature on his car for the site. :)

Do you have the 914 with the orange DayGlo splitters by chance? If so, we've met. :)

I will be seeing Greg in about a week or so. I will definitely tell him about this site. The silver '70 with day-glo orange rockers and valances is a real 916, 1 of 11. It was delivered from the factory in that livery. It has been owned by the same family since the mid-70's and just underwent a complete restoration by Patric Motorsports in AZ. They did a great job on the car. Finished it just in time to roll it into a trailer and bring it to Monterey. A rare car with all the history- I knew that was going to get 1st place.

Last year I got fortunate and got 1st place. This year we just enjoyed showing my car and talking to people. My car is not a trailer-queen, we drive it everywhere. It was a 4.5 hour drive to Monterey and a 7 hour drive home.

Went to the PCA show at Fremont Porsche today. One of their better turn-outs -- but once again I found myself drawn to a 914. This one looked showroom new, so had its own very cool vibe because of it. Loved the color too, and it's still owned by the original owner! :)

What's not to love about a 914? Analog and a true roadster. Hard to believe they were the scorn of Porsche's years ago.
