I also find the older I get the less frequently I do this operation. But I clean them on the car while sitting on jy rolling stool which is much easier on the vack and knees.
Now that I’m older I’m not doing this as often, I used to do it twice a year for both cars. These days maybe once a year.

I always clean the barrels of the wheels- some easier than others. Whenever I rotate, I do a quick coat of wax on the barrels to keep things from sticking and making cleaning easier.

One thing I look at when I buy a car is how easy will it be to clean the wheels!!

It’s the first thing I look at now because of my current wheel. These get dirty like this after my first drive.

I think about this sometimes when contemplating a purchase, my preference is a fairly simple 5 spoke wheel like the Carrera classic wheel, but it's not available in 20" AFAIK, and the standard GTS wheel isn't too bad, but those 15 spoke, oh my!
